Tom
Calloway began his martial arts training at the Michael Macaris
Kung-fu Academy at the age
of nine. He trained here for six years until he and his
father moved to Gloucester, MA. The discipline that
Kung-Fu empowered him with helped in his achievements both
academically and physically. Tom was chosen as an elite
member of the Boston Globe All-Scholastic Team as a track &
field competitor. He graduated Gloucester High School an
officer in the National Honor Society and received a
scholarship to the University of Massachusetts. After
leaving Billerica, Tom not only continued to practice all he learned as a Kung-Fu student, but
also sought instruction in other styles of martial arts.
After serving as President of the UMASS Shotokan Karate Club,
he co-founded the Muay Thai / Mixed Martial Arts club of UMASS
where he began teaching on his own. After recently
graduating college (Cum Laude) with a degree in Electrical
Engineering, Tom has returned to the Michael Macaris Kung-Fu
Academy not only as a student, but as a valuable staff member.
Tom brings leadership, high energy, enthusiasm, and a great
love of teaching to the program. He is a great role
model for the younger students.
