Tom Calloway began his martial arts training at the Michael Macaris Kung-fu Academy at the age of nine.  He trained here for six years until he and his father moved to Gloucester, MA.  The discipline that Kung-Fu empowered him with helped in his achievements both academically and physically.  Tom was chosen as an elite member of the Boston Globe All-Scholastic Team as a track & field competitor.  He graduated Gloucester High School an officer in the National Honor Society and received a scholarship to the University of Massachusetts.  After leaving Billerica, Tom not only continued to practice all he learned as a Kung-Fu student, but also sought instruction in other styles of martial arts.  After serving as President of the UMASS Shotokan Karate Club, he co-founded the Muay Thai / Mixed Martial Arts club of UMASS where he began teaching on his own.  After recently graduating college (Cum Laude) with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Tom has returned to the Michael Macaris Kung-Fu Academy not only as a student, but as a valuable staff member.  Tom brings leadership, high energy, enthusiasm, and a great love of teaching to the program.  He is a great role model for the younger students.
