Kung Fu
Kung-Fu
is an art form that was developed in China 3,000 years ago.
It was originally developed by watching animals fight and play
and as a means of self-defense. As years passed, Kung-Fu
became more refined and developed - not only as a fighting
system, but also as a means of mental, physical, and spiritual
development.
The literal translation of
Kung-Fu is "mastery through hard work." On a deeper
level, Kung-Fu is really about mastering "Kung-Fu" movement
and then applying those same principles to whatever other
goals we may want to accomplish. The martial art of
Kung-Fu is a flowing, graceful style of body movement that
mimics motions of the tiger, leopard, snake, eagle, monkey,
praying mantis, and others.
Kung-Fu teaches discipline,
perseverance, self-awareness, confidence, self respect and
respect towards others. The Kung-Fu masters of old
believed in pursuing the elusive path towards enlightenment -
to elevate one's conscious state and become one with the
universe, using Kung-Fu skills along the way to promote
health, longevity and the ability to defend ones self if
necessary.
